Mariners Stun Blue Jays With A Miraculous Comeback Win
Blue Jays fans, that one will hurt for a while. The Seattle Mariners overcame a seven-run hole to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday night, 10-9, in a collapse of epic proportions. The setback stunned the 47,000-strong audience and will undoubtedly go down in Blue Jays legend as one of the most incredible losses in team history.
The Mariners’ incredible comeback victory also represented the biggest comeback in postseason history for a visiting team and the biggest comeback to decide a playoff series.

To make matters worse, Toronto suffered its first loss in a game in which it scored nine runs or more, as well as its first loss in 54 games when holding a lead of at least nine runs.

The Mariners’ Win Left Everyone Stunned
This is only the third occasion in Major League Baseball history where a team overcame a seven-run deficit to win the same game, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Happy for the Mariners. (My preseason pick to win the World Series nbd)

The Mariners join; – 2008 ALCS Game 5: Red Sox trail Rays 7-0 before rallying to win 8-7 – 1929 as the third teams ever to come back from a 7-run deficit in a postseason game. Philadelphia Athletics come back to defeat the Cubs 10-8 in Game 4 of the World Series after falling behind 8-0.
FINAL: Mariners 10, Blue Jays 9
Seattle, out of the postseason for 20 years, down 8-1 here, authors an improbable comeback, the second-biggest in MLB playoff history. Hey now. Hey now. Hey now.
Mariners advance to face Houston. There will be playoff baseball at T-Mobile Park.

In the fifth inning, the Mariners were spiralling out of control until the Blue Jays buried them with a seven-run lead after a hit by Danny Jansen that brought Alejandro Kirk home. The Mariners didn’t give up and fought back to tie the game in the eighth inning off a JP Crawford double that brought in three runs, and that would be as good as it got for the Blue Jays for the rest of the night.
Jp Crawford is such a big impact any team could use his talent and i will stand on this. pic.twitter.com/WWd6r9nvAF

If the Blue Jays had been able to catch a flyball off of Crawford’s bat, the result would almost certainly have been completely different. However, a misunderstanding amongst Toronto’s outfielders led to a horrific collision between Bo Bichette and George Springer, who was later carried off the field.
The Mariners become the 3rd team ever to come back from a 7-run deficit in a postseason game, joining;

– 1929 World Series Game 4: Philadelphia Athletics trail Cubs 8-0 before coming back to win 10-8 pic.twitter.com/DwTsjM46Bs

Fans Went Gaga Over The Win
The clearest explanation of why the Mariners’ incredible comeback triumph is historic came from ESPN’s Jeff Passan. They haven’t played in the postseason for 20 years, but they didn’t falter when they fell behind by seven runs and fought their way back to accomplish the historic achievement.

There is no better way to describe the situation than to say that it is the second-largest comeback in MLB playoff history.
